Dated film and not what I thought it would be. Not worth looking at and you could do better by having a good sleep.

Well, if you are wanting to see a modern film with modern values, don't see this one because it is nostalgia personified. I wonder what some of the previous reviewers expected when watching a film that was made in the 50's that was set at the turn of the 20th century??! This is a lovely film that couldn't offend on any level. Traditional and simple -honest and enjoyable, I recomend it to anyone who enjoys film for the experience of sheer escapism.

  • 80 minutes too long in a boat

Or Carry On Up the Thames. Predating the long-running comedy series by a couple of years, this revels in the same kind of lame slapstick humour. Our nincompoops decide to get away from the girls in their lives by taking to the river. The rest involves lots of falling into the water and misunderstandings with a bevy of beauties. All terribly lame (Harvey was never a comfortable actor with comedy) and all terribly proper.

It should be noted that this rental is a terrible print. Washed out colour is one of its problems. The film was made in Cinemascope too, though you've never know it to look at this version of the film.

This is the poorest film we have seen so far. Poor acting and dialog. Not one redeeming feature. Too silly to laugh at.

jolly old fashioned film , not stuck closely to the book but still fun all the same.

laurence harvey , jimmy edwards etc all do a very funny turn and is worth watching even if it is an old film , which in some cases still cant be beaten by modern films .
