They've got a saying in Texas — the Rio Grande changes its course, the Saunders don't. Charlton Heston is the inflexible Colt Saunders, the rancher who marries Anne Baxter's Southern woman on an impulse and throws her out on discovering her unsavoury past. Tom Tryon is the one-armed Cinch Saunders who falls out with his brother. And then there's the post-Civil War adminstration making iniquitous tax demands. It ought to add up to highly combustible entertainment but the characters are one-dimensional and, frankly, you couldn't give a damn.
Characterless 'character' Western, a long way after Duel in the Sun.
Sorry, but I did not enjoy this very much at all. Pretty poor acting.
