Top Foreign Film With Added LoachBy DH from Dumfries, Scotland , 26 Oct 2006
[Highly rated reviewer]Fans of foreign film won't be disappointed - three wonderfully put together vignettes based on train journeys in modern mainland Europe. The stories are thought-provoking and deal with many fundamental issues - loneliness, attraction, trust, pride in a quiet, careful way. The fact that the third segment is a Ken Loach piece is only icing and cherry combined, on a delicious cake. The indignant working class Scots nature juxtaposed against the backdrop of affluent central Europe and pitted against the grim, desperate poverty of the East is a perfect combination.

THE CHARM OF TRAVEL BY RAILBy a customer , 06 Dec 2011This trilogy of stories about passengers on a train to Rome is a heart-warming and humourous look at human experience. From a gentle tale of forgotten love experienced in youth by a elderly man, through the brusque treatment of a young offender by a dictatorial woman, to the hilarious engagement of young football fans from Scotland with some Albanian refugees, the film is an absolute gem of observational charm.
Tales beautifully acted, directed and filmed, this is a joy to watch.
Memories of Inter-railingBy a customer from London , 16 Aug 2010This is an unexpected gem of a film. Lovely stories about characters on a long Intercity train journey across Europe. What comes through is the humanity of all the characters for better or worse.
ShameBy Ell1981 (169 reviews) from London , 18 Nov 2009Thought this film would be much better given the directoral talents but it fails to have an impact and lacks any kind of cohesivness or flair.
