There are two live action Tin tin films that were made and this one is the best. I would only recommend this film if you are a avid Tin tin fan. Due to the time it was made you would expect the quality of production to be dated, but this is terrible from start to finish (the editing is jumpy and the sets cheap and sound quality poor in places) However the story is entertaining and the characters are faithful to the books- the actor who plays captin haddock is awsome in this film. The dog is also fantastic although i think animal rights activists would have something to say if the film was made today!

overall if you can cope with the horrendous production values, and you enjoy a good Tin Tin story i would recommend this film. It is fun, silly and full of colourful characters and Action. If you are just looking for something to watch and are not a fan of the books/ cartoons i would pass.

it should also be noted that the film is French with English subtitles (no dubbing). The translation is clearly wrong in places which i find quite amusing although others may find it annoying
