Hitchcock creates a Hollywood star-specialBy db (2 reviews) from London , 26 Jul 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]Cary Grant is a smooth and charismatic retired cat burglar getting entwined with the glamorous diamond-owning Grace Kelly. The chemistry between the two is excellent and comedy sprinkled in by the mother character.
But other than the blonde and the mother, this is far from standard Hitchcock fare: a thin mystery for the plot - far from Hitch's twisty thrillers - with the film being mainly driven by two great stars.
That said, this film is a very enjoyable way to spend 100mins, with some beautifully shot scenery. Don't expect Vertigo or Rear Window, but do enjoy Cary Grant and Grace Kelly speeding around the Riviera.

A slightly annoying jumperBy TheFilmMeister (1 review) from Cardiff , 21 Jul 2009A very good film generally, although Cary Grant wears a black and white striped jumper, which creates strange shimmering effects on the television, which gets quite annoying.

Classic!By blimyslimy (19 reviews) from London , 24 Feb 2009Good old Hitchcock film, with great casting. Stunning scenic shots. Enjoyable!
Not a GemBy Goggs (30 reviews) from Edinburgh , 18 Feb 2009Sometimes films are remembered because they are really great, timeless, etc. This one is alright but not that good. A touch predictable even. Never mind.
On the RivieraBy a customer from Doncaster , 16 Nov 2008Someone once said that all women wanted Cary Grant and all men men wanted to be Cary Grant and the pairing of Grant and Grace Kelly is so glamorous that it makes Angelina and Brad look like runners up in an ugly contest. A lightweight vehicle for Hitch but played with crackling dialogue between Grant, Kelly, John Williams and Jessie Royce Landis. The scenery of the French Riviera enhances the film and especially the car chase round those hairpin bends with Grace driving, she was such a bad driver that her father once said that she should never be allowed to drive and look what happened in reality! This was her last film before she became Princess Grace of Monaco. Two beautiful people enjoying themselves on film for our delight. They don't make them like that any more!
