    Absolutely wonderful

    A true gem of British television, with all the dry humour and wit you expect of Penelope Keith.

    She seems so at home in this gentrified manner. A good combination of modern life mixing in most un-graciously with the traditional values placed upon a family manor house!

    Who ever said we live in a classless society!!

    Penelope Keith at her best. All those qualities that are supposed to characterise an 'English Rose' - all be it a formidable one! A voice that would cut crystal yet seductive at the same time. Her underhand flattering and seduction of Richard De Vere is typical of the upper classes' attitude towards new money. 'So vulgar' yet so necessary.

    A charming time piece, set in a time when taxes were crippling (40% would seem like a dream then) and where 'changed circumstances' meant more than just a change of address. If you want to understand the concept of old and new money then watch this!
