Not what I was expecting!

Not what I was expecting (a light hearted film about food in 60/70s). Much grittier- about the death of Slater's mum, being isolated, wicked step mum, dysfunctional father/son relationship, etc. But of course it featured food as well!
It was well acted, enjoyable, and entertaining. I'm a big fan of Nigel Slater anyway and thus found it interesting to know more about his background. Helena Bonham Carter is great.- Was this review helpful to you?

Surprisingly good

Not what I was expecting, I didn't realize it was going to be based on a true story. Helen Bonham Carter is very good as well, as in Freddie Highmore. The story is very interesting. Definitely worth a watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

It emotional journey about a boy's relationship with food and family, and at one point food and family battle. I personally enjoyed this and even enjoyed the second time round (with being the first time watching it on T. V.). Was happy to see Freddie Highmore make his return as teenage Nigel Slater his acting was spot on along with Helena Bonham Carter who did fantastic job as Mrs Potter. This film doesn't disappoint, highly recommend.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great nostalgia
