The British super spy goes after a ruthless media baron (an amalgam of Ted Turner, Rupert Murdoch, and Bill Gates, played with feisty aplomb by Pryce) whose diabolical plans include instigating World War III so that his empire can obtain an exclusive (a la CNN during the Gulf War). This time, 007 discovers sorrow in a love lost and a worthwhile partner in a female Chinese counterpart (Hong Kong action diva Yeoh). Noteworthy for its unabashed commercial product placement, Sheryl Crow's title song was nominated for a Golden Globe (Best Original Song - Motion Picture).

For the first hour or so, this 18th Bond movie is up there with the best of them: it has terrific pace, Pierce Brosnan has romantic and rough-house appeal, Teri Hatcher is a match for him, and the post-Cold War story has grip and even plausibility. Sadly, the second half doesn't quite sustain the momentum: the story moves from Europe to Asia (back to the locations of The Man with the Golden Gun) and Jonathan Pryce's media mogul makes a pathetically unthreatening villain whose motto is There's no news like bad news. Flaws aside, this is still the best Bond movie since … well, since the days of Mr Connery.
Action-packed movie that sticks close to the usual 007 formula and has a somewhat lacklustre villain in a megalomaniacal media tycoon, but at least it delivers on its promises.
' Tomorrow Never Dies'
is an old time classic which will
be remembered by film/bond fans alike.
Pierce Brosnan 's interpretation of
Bond is the defintiive version. Sean Connery used to be my favourite but now
Pierce Brosnan's in the lead. Teri Hatcher [ The New Adventures Of Superman, Spy Kids] is Paris Carver the wife of media mogul Elliot Carver [ Jonothan Pryce - Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse Of The Black Pearl,
Robert Louis Stevenson's The Game Of
Death] who is actually loosly based on
media mogul Rupert Murdoch [ i think that's how it's spelled] the man who started up ' Sky' television. there is even line in the film quoted from William Randulph Hurst ' You Provide The Pictures, I Provide the war' this film also stars Michelle Yeoh [ Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon] as Wai Lin who is martial arts expert and chinese spy who i think is the gutsiest
bond girl ever! [ she resists him all the way until credits roll.] i loved the
idea this also had henchman called ' Stamper' who is lot like cross between
Necros in ' 007: The Living Daylights' and Donald ' Red' Grant in ' 007: From Russia With Love' this really harckens back. Vicent Schiavelli is scary but very, very good in the role of Doctor Kauffman the assassin. the film has few dark elements but still sticks to the light heartedm, gung ho, triggerhappy formula which bond does so well. must see. *****
Bond is back only this time his arch enemy is a global media tycoon played by Jonathan Pryce. However, this media tycoon isn't your regular Rupert Murdock. No, this is the type of media tycoon who would happily start a war just to please his readers and viewers. In fact he does try to start a war between the Chinese and the British by destroying a British navy vessel via some sort of radar jamming utility, putting the blame on the Chinese.
Pierce Brosnan sits comfortably into the role as the smooth talking 007. This time however Bond isn't the only person assigned to the case, a Chinese special agent played by Michelle Yeoh (Super Cop) is also trying to uncover the truth behind the sunken vessel, not only can she kick harder than 007, she also has her own unique gadgets. Some of the fight scenes were coordinated by Philip Kwok, who was whisked over, all the way from Hong Kong. Together they uncover the truth and save the day.
With less than a month to go until the release of new James Bond film, Casino Royale, there should be enough time to catch up on the rest of the classic franchise. Casino Royale features Layer Cake star Daniel Craig as the eponymous hero, while Dame Judi Dench is returning as his boss, M. Yet those who think Pierce Brosnan was the best Bond can enjoy Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day – the four films in which he starred as special agent 007....
