    [Highly rated reviewer]

I love Torchwood, I really do. But with Children of Earth they went too far, trying to be an 'adult' version of Doctor Who and this is even worse. I think I spent a good two months watching the episodes and I have no idea why it was so long! It must have been around 10 hours altogether. The 'big secret' may have made more of an impact if I actually cared at the end and as for the plot twist, I'd already guessed it half and hour ago. There is only one episode worth watching, when we take a look into Jack's past. But even for the die hard Torchwood fan, avoid the rest - you won't be missing anything!

  • spoiler on disk 2 extras but Brilliant on the hole

Thought it was really good, it is different than the original series but still found it awesome, watched all of them. (stupid how the 'behind the scenes' feature on about disk 2 included the ones from the final episode tho) ppl keep giving this bad reviews but if u want the hole aliens/monsters thing then eather watch sja or dr. who (or watch series 1,2 or C0E after a couple of months when you`ve forgotten what happened)

  • It's not Torchwood anymore...! :(

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide

Although I only managed to sit through the first six episodes, and while as an new, independent idea this storyline would be good, it's just not Torchwood anymore!

It's not about it being set in America, because that didn't cause any problems, it was the fact that the whole series is based on the one plot and there is a distinct lack of alien life; which is what Torchwood is all about! I get the whole 'Wall of Flesh', and that being alien (?) but that's one creature in the whole series!

    Severely disappointed...

Not bad for a doctor who spin off but nothing to get excited about did not keep me amused enough to order the next disc

  • Beware the DVD extras

Only finished disc 2, mainly writing review to beware spoilers in the 'FX special' DVD extras.

So far some of the acting is iffy, and there is a culture clash between American style over-acting and British subtlety (if you can ever call Torchwood subtle). It jars you out of the story.

  • Captain Jack the imortal is definitely showing signs of ageing.

    Rated - 2.0 stars

Started off really well, some great characters, good plotting and then didn't really go anywhere. The actor who is playing Captain Jack, the imortal who doesn't age... well we watched on Blueray and he'd definitely aged! Perhaps that's why they're not making any more. Also John Barrowman seems to be acted off the screen by a lot of the other cast who've learned their trade in film and tv rather than treading the boards singing show tunes.

The actress who plays Gwen is amazing, and very roughty tufty... she should be used more in other shows.

Overall in comparison to the other Torchwood series, this was the weak relation, which is surprising going on all the really good writers and the vast budget they had for it.
