Judging by the first 3 episodes, Torchwood needs more energy cells. Its looking ragged and lacks the excitement of the 1st series. The characters appeared subdued and even the little Welsh bit - who lit-up the 1st series - lacks sparkle. Very reluctant 3 stars from me.
I missed episode 4 so had to rent it out so i can now watch the rest that I prev recorded. Good series. An improvement on the 1st. Some cool Gay scenes on mainstream tv. Really good show. Ties in nicely with Dr WHo. Certainly for any fan.
This series is definitely a lot darker than Series 1 and credit must go to the talents of the writers and producers of this series.
Brilliantly written and acted with some emotional moments towards the end. A must for all fans!

Maybe the novelty has worn off, but the episodes I've seen so far haven't been up to the first season, although there were occasionally duds in that series as well.
The first time round, Torchwood was a bit daft, bit too soppyand not enough really happening. Considering its the 'adult version'of Doctor Who there's still not enough scares, but its getting lots better. Lots and lots. A couple of the episodes are weak, but even they're not as bad as the first series, but the reallygood episodes are brilliant.
For those who haven't seen this but saw the last couple of episodes of series 4 of Doctor Who, you've probably got a bit of an idea what might happen. For those who haven't, oh, you're in for a shock!
I like Torchwood, I like the acting, the darkness of some of the episodes, I even like most of the characters.
The thing that spoils this show is John Barrowman. Yes he's a good actor, yes he's good looking, but come on do we have to see him kissing men all the time? We know he's gay...get over it!!!
If you like DR Who, but feel it cxould be a little more darker then Torchwood is for you. But if you don't want to see men kissing each other, then be warned!
Fantastic series- I loved the third episode which focused around Tosh.
Torchwood is a spin-off from DrWho. It is at its best when it is independant of DrWho. There are episodes that are excellent in their own right standing on their own feet. Some episodes are taking the piss out of themselves (and so devaluing the concept). Others have excellent scripting with a deeper narrative, with a subnarative that continues over the wholse series (a destination to get to, with stories on the way).
It has a lot more adult relationships (multisexual). The whole plot of Torchwood is one that can live as long as Dr Who I think as there is a lot of untapped material there.
The series just get better and is filmed in HD with excellent 5.1 sound.
