Where animated films turned a big cornerBy JediSi (301 reviews) from Kent , 25 Aug 2007
[Highly rated reviewer]Toy Story is the first fully computer-generated full-length feature film.
Set in Andy's bedroom, before the family moves house, his mother decides to throw a birthday party for him. Led by Woody, Andy's toys are all worried that the new birthday presents will replace them and, with the help of Sarge and his platoon of plastic soldiers, the toys begin a mission to find out exactly what Andys gifts are. All is going well with Andy receiving board games and a lunch box, and the toys all breathe a sigh of relief as they think its all over. Until a special gift is pulled from the cupboard. Enter, Buzz Lightyear. Buzz quickly becomes unwanted competition in the Andys favourite toy race, and Woody wont take it lying down and sets out to prevent Buzz becoming number one. Whilst Woody is concentrating on his efforts against Buzz, they both miss the all important moving day.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen provided excellent voices for Woody and Buzz Lightyear -their performances alone are one of the biggest things that made this such a spectacular movie. Besides that, though, you have the excellent story that is not only noteworthy because it has never really been told from this perspective before, but also because it was just told so well. The computer animation used for this movie not only made it startlingly realistic but also opened up tons of possibilities, and thankfully the filmmakers chose to explore these possibilities.
Toy story truly is the turning point of kids films. Great stuff

Toy Story Is A ClassicBy Alexander-UK (128 reviews) , 28 Aug 2013What it there to say about this movie that has not been said, kids and adults alike love this movie and its not hard to see why. Animation is clear and beautiful and the characters are charming and loveable and this movie will always be a classic for years to come.
Time lessBy AVSheard (133 reviews) , 06 May 2013This is a completely original story about very simple idea. You feel a lot of empathy towards the characters (even though they are nothing more than animated toys) what shows just how good Pixar is at creating characters. It also deals with the issue of how things change in the world and how we should welcome the change rather then fight against them. This all results in a timeless classic what will be enjoyed equally by each generation.
