  • Much better than I expected

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I simply do not understand the poor reviews for this movie, “it was boring” wrong it actually had some meaning and was at least vaguely believable “I switched it off after 20mins” how can you review it then – people like you ruin the review system. I have watched 3 or 4 movies with Ice T and I must admit they are generally poor, slow paced, poor acting and zero budget but Tracks was much better than I expected. Tracks is a real life drama based on true events about a group of boys who make a huge mistake whist joking around nearby to some rail tracks. The story follows one of these boys as he is sentenced to 5 years in a maximum-security adult prison, as you witness the harsh realities of prison life you learn more about the background of the imprisoned youngster, beaten by his father and haunted by memories of his sad childhood. The film is not a high action fast paced thriller, it is not typical of an Ice T movie, it is a drama that moves along slowly but effectively, both my wife an I stayed glued to film and although we probably would not watch the movie again would happily recommend it to people not too upset by some rather violent prison scenes. The budget is certainly low and the support acting very average but Chris Gunn is excellent as the lead as the movie paints a disturbingly true picture of a not so uncommon occurrence. There are elements of the hit movie Sleepers about the film, of course without the profile cast and big budget. Not a bad movie at all 3 stars and closing in on 4 stars, not as good as Ondskan, now that is a top quality real life drama.

  • Mudane & kinda boring

    Rated - 2.0 stars

Mundane and kinda boring no peaks n troughs in this film really nothing to mak you go wow. Nothing was really covered. We saw the pov of one of the guys who derailed the train. Tho we didnt see much remorse or anything that creates good drama. Still it was interesting to watch.

  • Boring!

    Rated - 1.0 star

Watched all of the film hoping it would get better, it didn't! Good storyline, probably would have been better under someone elses direction though! Acting was nothing to rave about either! All things considered, pretty poor!

  • Boarderline Pass - Sanitised Version of Prison Life

    Rated - 3.0 stars
By a customer from Hampshire, England , 01 Apr 2007
The main failing of the film is to sanitise Prison life in the US, which can be very nasty, violent and utterly depressing. Whilst the film touched upon it, in the main it avoided those nasty elements - I suspect in order to keep the Board of Censors and viewing rating at bay. It fails in its purpose of warning off silly teenage bravado and ego led silly acts of so called 'manhood'. The watering down of various aspects to stay in line with the Board of Censors meant its message for teenagers (its main target market) was ineffective. However the underlying message is there which adults will pick up straight away. Whilst based on a true story, it didnt really deliver as its treatment of the various aspects and scenarios in the affair was too lightweight. However its a 'Sunday Afternoon' movie, not that bad, and worth a watch - judst dont expect too much.
