By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
Transamerica very deservingly won Felicity Huffman overwhelming praise for her powerful leading role as her character ?Bree? is in the controversial process of male to female gender realignment.

An Honest Good Film
By paul from Portsmouth , 09 Aug 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
Not many of us knowingly encounter transengedered persons so this is somewhat of a new topic, one that could (if I am honest) be a bit uncomfortable to watch if handled wrongly, but this is sensitive, funny, sweet, educational and entertaining. Hinged on excellent very credible performances from ALL the actors, helped along by a good script. Sometimes the sound seems a little off, and it isn't a big budget film by any degree, but what a refreshing change from the usual 2hrs of pointless explosions and sex you routinely get from Hollywood.- Was this review helpful to you?

(220)heartwarmingly honest
By adslife (4 reviews) , 16 May 2013Warm, engaging and definitely brings the subject matter to an honest open and heartwarming conclusion. Its a journey for the two main characters with a truth that many films seldom deliver. Felicity Huffman and Kevin Zegers give outstanding performances and truly deserve huge credit for what they have achieved. I recommend this a must watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

And you think your dad's a drag?
By Oldbloke (314 reviews) from Sidmouth , 05 Dec 2012Fragile transexual Bree is awaiting her final operation, when she discovers that a son she fathered years earlier is now a delinquent on the streets of New York. Without revealing her true indentity, she post his bail and offers to drive him home. This is no limp-wristed drag movie, Felicity Huffman is quite remarkable as a funny sensitive sole, trying to come to terms with being different. An encounter with her family is the only false note in a film that is rendered unmissable by the central performance alone.- Was this review helpful to you?

"Life Is A Journey. Bring An Open Mind".
By a customer , 20 May 2012I enjoyed 'Transamerica' and there were quite a few chuckles along the way.....
But, it was a case of why say ten words, when you can say a thousand?
It did tend to go on too long and would have been much better as a shorter film.- Was this review helpful to you?

Mother and father of originality.
By SE17 (8 reviews) from London , 10 Feb 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
A really original and engaging film with an outstanding central performance from Felicity Huffman. Transexuality may be a challenging subject for some, but it is handled with such delicacy, warmth and insight that the viewer takes it on board with sympathy and understanding. It's also a warm and funny story about a mother and son getting to know each other in most unusual circumstances.- Was this review helpful to you?
