Great fun. The usual high standard animation you expect from a Disney feature, although a little less self-parody than many recent efforts and not a musical either, both of which work in its favour. This is a clever genre swapping retell of a classic story that actually works really well. If like animation, give it a go.

Excellent Sunday evening watch. Good natured Disney optimism; however the main characters could have done with more context. Otherwise the quality of Animation was excellent :)

  • Feels more like an anime!

Like many have said before, this is a more mature Disney film and doesn't have the classic appeal, lacking whimsy, optimism and exaggerated characters. (There is one cartoonish robot but he stands out like a sore thumb and is annoying for it) I feel it's brilliant but its definately a 'love it or hate it' sort of thing.. it would probably look better when not compared to the rest of the Disney library and I kinda wish another company had made it. Personally I find it rather awesome that they decided to touch upon a sort of 'father/son relationship' as the underlying theme of the film instead of the more cliche love story, even if is a bit odd. Even if you don't like that sort of stuff at least it's a very pretty film with some great effort put into realizing a strange and vibrant universe!

  • Lacklustre affair for Disney.

I had heard alot of bad press for this Disney outing. Some of it is perhaps warranted, because the characterisations are poor along with the voice acting. What it has in it's favour is the strong visual animation, with some splendid scenes, yet even these aren't as good as previous outings, the carpet ride in Aladdin or the stampede in the Lion King come to mind. Its a decent enough movie without being great. In the end its just plain average.
