From the same school of gay film-making as Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss, Jim Fall's unassuming romantic comedy pokes gentle fun at such stereotypes as the bitchy drag queen and the disco stud. Christian Campbell could hardly be more cherubic as the struggling musical composer whose chance to make it with a hunky stripper, J P Pitoc, is frustrated by a lack of privacy and a wealth of conflicting advice. Slight but very likeable urban fairytale about the joys and limitations of wish-fulfilment fantasies. A mildly sappy... read more on Time Out
This is a fun, feel-good movie about two guys in New York trying to enjoy a first 'date', but finding almost everything conspiring to prevent them getting together. It's main fault, is just that: they don't get together. Whilst sometimes great fun, ultimately all the interruptions to even a first kiss become frustrating for the viewer as well. This wouldn't be so bad in a regular, straight relationship, because there are so many films out there that can compensate for that lack. A good gay relationship movie is so rare, though, that one with only one kiss in it to fulfill the expectations and anticipation of the viewer is something of a let-down. It's still a fun movie, but don't expect to see anything you couldn't watch happily with your mother.
A lovely, light, funny gay film without gratuitous sex and leaves you with the old feel good factor! Worth a watch.
