I'm a big fan of the other Tropico titles, they are fun and addictive. When you get used to the controls and start to build your in game world.

Nice game - but if you have a CRT/old style of Tv - forget about it.

The text is too small and cannot be read.

  • Stratergy fans will love this one! But does it need to be a 16?

Stratergy fans will enjoy this game.

I think the developers should have tried a little harder to bring the age rating down as i believe this has put off people.

Also i think there should be a few more modes to play.

Graphics wise, it looks neat especially for it's genre.

Beware though unless you are an avid stratergy gamer you might find this one a little boring.

  • Tropico 3: a change to console strategy games

As a longtime fan of the Tropico games I was originally disapointed when Tropico 3 was announced as a console release. I felt that the game wouldn't be able to live up to it's predessesors on a console. I was wrong. Tropico 3 has gone above and beyond what the previous titles ever achieved.

Tropico 3 brings back all the old memories of the first game. There oare still the standard scenario type games where certain criteria must be met, but this game brings more. New rescources such as oil are introduced into the game creating a valuable commodity. However this new valuable resource presents challenges to your island paradice. If you wish to cash in on the oil trade then you sacrifice the respect of the enviromentalists and possibly tourists.

In past tropico games it was easy to ignore smaller political parties like the enviromentalists, but now there is a better political system. Protests now affect greater parts of the populace. If the protester has no real arguement then the people will ignore him. However if there is discontent on the island then the protest will sew seeds of discontent amongst the populace.

That's just a taste of the newer systems tropico brings; there are new edicts as well, but I wont go into those. This game has given me a new faith in console real time strategy games. So do you want to know if you should rent this game or not? Well if you are a fan of Tropico games. Hell yes. If you are a fan of city builder games but don't like console RTS', well neither was I.

  • Good fun but gets old quickly

I love a good strategy game like this and had fairly high expectations despite a few people telling me it would be pretty poor. Well, they were wrong. It's good fun once you get going with a decent spread of achievements rewarding both good and bad behaviour, although I will admit that it did get a little repetetive fairly quickly. Suffers from the same problem that many of these type of console strategy games do in that a controller must be used (I much prefer the point and click style of a mouse and keyboard for these types of game). OK to rent for a week or so but I would hold off from buying it.
