Under-rated Michael Madsen (Mr Blonde in Reservoir Dogs) plays an out-of-luck gambler who sets off across country with a dead body in the boot of a car he's just won. But it quickly proves the least of his problems as he then hooks up with winsome waitress Patricia Arquette, who's out to avenge the murder of her Mafia grandfather. Of course, this curious couple end up being pursued by various interested parties. Containing the requisite amount of car chases, gun battles and misunderstandings, this is tongue-in-cheek, if violent, entertainment. However, the good performances in this watchable thriller, like a lot of independent movies, tend to be a touch too quirky for their own good.
"...Technically accomplished....One can credit Reiner with keeping his tank filled with high-octane gas, as the performances and pacing possess a pedal-to-the-metal momentum..."
Michael Madsen and Patricia Arquette - great actors! Pity they're wasting their time in this sub-Tarantino nonsense. Don't bother - go watch True Romance instead, it's a hundred times better.
