i am literally clawing my face off waiting for this to come out, living in england i cant even watch it on HBO but have to wait a whole more year before i can even get it off amazon! i love these shows and the books they are based on. i need this DVD!- Was this review helpful to you?

Don't expect a faithful adaptationof the books, but still worth watching.

A friend had warned me that the series was not the same as the books, and boy was she right, there is a LOT of deviation from the plot & characters in the books. Characters appear that are not mentioned at all in the books, the characters that are taken from the books are in some cases, the complete opposite of what is described,and there are characters in the books that don't make an appearance at all. Once you get your head round this, and that a lot of the plots have changed, it's pretty good, the cast do a great job. I found the first series a very slow burner, hence the 3 star rating - things only started to quicken pace towards the end of the season. Enough to make me want to rent season 2.
