All about Clive
By Daftorbital (65 reviews) from Weston Super Mare , 12 Jul 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
For alot of parents, i would summise, there is a generation gap. Tweets, texts, facebook, internet sites, new gadjets and gizmos aimed at kids. This is all too clear at the beginning of Trust as Clive Owen is baffled by his daughter's incessant use of text speech; but thats just the surface of his frustrations.
The film tells of his daughter, all of 14, a spritely but naive girl who involves herself online with a man posing to be a hell of a lot younger than he actually is. It is uncomfortable viewing at times, manipulation versus naivity not nice to watch.
This is Clive Owen's film, although the daughter is aslo first rate, Clive nails it as the embittered, anxious, and very angry dad and portrays a wide range of emotions. Which keeps us hooked right up to its bitter-sweet conclusion.
It is a more well rounded and realistic film than say something like Hard Candy, which went down the revenge thriller route but it often feels like a tv drama, due to Schwimmer's inexperience behind the camera, i am not sure.
What the film trys to eradicate sometimes rears it's ugly head and may start appealing to the wrong crowd but the disastrous effects of such an ordeal always ring true in the end.- Was this review helpful to you?

Epistolary Relationship
By AnitaLouise (12 reviews) from Belfast , 14 Feb 2013Didnt know anything about this film so watched from the edge of my seat as I really felt for the confusion of the parents and their little girl. I thought it can be watched by parents and teenagers alike as a reminder of the pitfalls of the internet. Opening sequence grabbed your attention and set the pace.- Was this review helpful to you?
