  • Not Disneys best!

This is typical of Disney to overwork on the sentimentality of a good story. The story is simple and will be enjoyed by young and old alike. Although there is a fine cast the likes of Ben Kingsley could have been used much more creatively. But in its defense it is wonderfully shot with a great backdrop for the film. Family viewing.

A sensitive portrayal of Natalie Babbit's brilliant novel. Not the usual Disneyfication treatment! One to watch again and again, I think.

  • Romantic But Depressing.

Tuck Everlasting is based on a book about Winnie Foster (Alexis Bledel), rich and privilleged by her parents. One day, she has a arugement with them due to going to a all girls school and breaks free from the fence that blocks her from the outside world. There she meets the mysterious Tuck's family and soon bonds with them along with falling in love with their son Jesse. But when she learns of their secret and a ondemand search for her, she must chose between living forever or returning back home to live a life her parents wanted. Okay, it's a Disney film and hasn't got anything harmful but it's the story during the film that can be really depressing. It has some romantic moments but they are overshadowed by the constant threat and not really having the real zing to believe in their love pairing. Even the ending was depressing, though it had some kind of postive words I just thought it was way too sad for younger viewers to understand what happened. It's not high on my recomendtions unless you read the book (I haven't so I went into this without knowing the plot) and like romantic movies but I thought this one was far too depressing for a Disney romantic movie.

Whilst I have not seen the 1981 movie version of this story, I can believe that a good tale is a tale well told.

This was a charming little story where the younger members of the cast were well supported by a core of experienced stagers in William Hurt and the 'Carrie' girls Amy Irving and Sissy Spacek. Sir Ben Kingsley added an air of malevolence and did not overwhelm the young lovers.

If you can suspend your disbelief in this tale of a young girl's attempts at finding love in 1914 and then like Dorothy discovering that 'East, West Home is Best' then you will enjoy the tale. No violence, except when Sissy lets rip and lots of long hungry looks from the youngest Tuck (Jonathan Jackson) at our heroine Winnie (Alexis Bledel).

This was Alexis’ movie debut which has led to a succession of reasonable Chick Flicks in addition to her Gilmore Girl on TV, good luck to her.

Worth the money for the rental, but not one of my top 100.

  • What if you could Live Forever

    Rated - 3.0 stars

The Tuck family have found a way of living forever. There is a stream that the whole family drank from and makes them live forever. Once releasing this they decided to hide this from the world because unscrupulous people would do whatever they could to exploit it. So begins the story a young girl belonging to the richest family notices the youngest tuck drinking from the stream and wants to drink. He can't let her and so takes her to his family, they proceed to fall in love. The other story is a man who has been following the two tuck brothers manages to find out there secret. After a touch of racism. The two stories converge. If you watch it on a Sunday with no expectations, you will enjoy it.
