In this enjoyable comedy, Tom Hanks stars as dapper California detective Scott Turner, who teams up with slob-dog Hooch to solve a drug-related murder. While the script is sometimes short on laughs, British director Roger Spottiswoode keeps the action jogging along, giving Hanks room to display the kind of comic timing that established his Hollywood reputation in films such as Splash! and The Money Pit. Hanks is well-served by his canine co-star, but Mare Winningham is wasted as the love interest.

    superb..................

this film is superb, my youngest daughter loved it. Tom Hanks stars as Scott Turner, a compulsively neat detective whose tidy world goes upside down, when he is forced to team up with the only witness to a crime -- a drooling slob of a junkyard dog, (a Dogue de Bordeaux or French Mastiff) named Hooch.

Hooch's owner, who is also Scott's good friend Amos is murdered, this is why Scott has to taken in Hooch, or he will be put to sleep.

Not exactly man's best friend, Hooch turns Scott Turner's life haywire, when he wrecks Scott's home, career, and budding romance, with a local vet.

It's a hilarious, nonstop test of wills between this mismatched duo, leading to the most unlikely friendship you've ever seen!

this film has some really funny moments, such as Scott Turner bathing Hooch with a long brush, and a wild chase through the streets, when the sharp-eyed mutt spots his suspect.

It is well worth renting out.

Roberts' rude tribute to pal Hanks

    • 29 Apr 2009

Julia Roberts paid a bizarre X-rated tribute to acting pal Tom Hanks at a New York gala in his honour on Monday night (27Apr09). Hanks was the guest of honour at the Film Society of Lincoln Center Gala Tribute, attended by a star-studded audience of friends and former colleagues. After entertainment, including a performance by Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa, Roberts, who appeared alongside Hanks in 2007 movie Charlie Wilson's War, stepped onstage to toast her pal with a hilarious, Read more
