I am a keen vampire film lover, and anything to do with the subject I watch regardless of whether its a budget film or a hollywood blockbuster.
I watched this before reading the books and I loved it, it is not your traditional vampire film, it is definately more of a semi-doomed love story and the stress that comes with a new relatioship that should not be etc. But if you read the books you understand a lot more about what is going on and why the characters are like they are. Still loved it though!
