Hypnotic

The Polish Brothers are the most underrated team of filmakers. Like their later 'Northfork' ,this film takes you deep into the psyche of the characters. The story works on many levels and theit will make you lagh occasionally, cry a bit more often and really get you to think about perception, love and value Reminiscent of Boxing Helena with a pace that brings to mind the tense and slow tempo of some of David Lynch's mesmerising scenes this is a masterful movie. Unique and finely-crafted it is not to be missed.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)This film... is... very... slow...
By a customer from Galashiels , 30 Sep 2010About halfway through, I set it to play at 1.5x speed. The characters then started to talk and act at normal speed. Some interesting moments but seriously I recommend this approach if you are going to tackle this one.- Was this review helpful to you?

Arnie and Danny are nowhere in sight?
By Whipster (663 reviews) from Shropshire , 17 Mar 2008The Polish Brother's (Mark and Michael) movies pay homage to David Lynch, Roman Polanski, Tim Burton and others of their ilk. Surreal musings and quiet meanderings feature heavily in their atmospheric film making. Not sure if this is the first or second movie in their 'trilogy' but it has a superior narrative to that of Northfork in my opinion. As actors the Polish Brothers are very convincing as the cojoined siblings in this bittersweet, tragic but intriguing drama. It's beautifully photographed too.- Was this review helpful to you?

SNIP!!!
By a customer from Renfrew, Scotland , 07 Sep 2006The rather curious tale of siamese twins, 1 of whom becomes ill and threatens both their existence. The story which moves at a snail's pace (a good thing in this movie) takes in the odd characters they meet as well as learning about their past. Excellent direction for first time film-makers The Polish Brothers, it looks fantastic, has a great tone which moves between sombre and whimsical. They went on to direct Northfork, but that one you can definetly miss. But this one you should definetly catch if you like American independent cinema.- Was this review helpful to you?
