A very British exploitation movie: this borrows heavily from Psycho & Peeping Tom, with Hywel Bennett looking angelic and acting stupid to get what he wants - mainly Hayley Mills. It does drag in places but there are some nice comic touches and great support acts, especially from Billie Whitelaw as the still-randy older lady of the house. It left me vaguely uncomfortable rather than scared. And I'm still humming the Bernard Herrman theme that impressed Quentin Tarantino enough for him to 'borrow' it for Kill Bill.
A watchable thriller but very dated
