Guilty fun.

This interestingly quirky and occasionally steamy comedy thriller tips its hat at Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction and Robert Altman's Short Cuts. Danny Aiello, James Spader, Teri Hatcher, Jeff Daniels and the then-unknown Charlize Theron play just some of the unusual characters who inhabit the strange environs of LA in this amoral and often bizarre tale. Writer/director John Herzfeld is better known for less hip (and even more sensational) fare, including TV movies like Casualties of Love: the Long Island Lolita Story and Don King: Only in America.
"...An engaging and assured debut....Touching and wistfully erotic....The film exudes that satisfying sense of good actors getting their teeth into a rewarding script..."
This tale of 2 hitmen ( 1 stopwatch obsessed- 1 over the hill desperate to make a comeback) ; 2 cops ( 1 obsessed with getting rid of a massage parlour - 1 burning with a desire to get into homicide) ; a suicidal Hollywood director; a gorgeous blonde model; an Olympic skier; her 'ex'; a nurse; a yuppie with kidney stones; his bullied PA and 2 gorgeous dogs is knit together in a tapestry of little stories. We thoroughly enjoyed it !
The acting was great, the script witty and a nice satisfactory ending.
I'm now beginning to think that films which don't get a big trailer rammed down your throat are the ones to watch out for.
This one is absolutely brilliant from start to finish, very funny in parts, and boy! is that one great cat-fight, Charlize Theron looks absolutely stunning and the whole movie is just non-stop. Don't let this one get away, watch it!
Charlize Theron has revealed she was briefly kicked out of America as her career was taking off - because she was working illegally in Hollywood. The South African-born actress became an American citizen in 2007 but initially outstayed her welcome in the States when she was struggling to find work after her breakthrough role in Two Days In The Valley. As her work visa expired, Theron was still fighting for roles in Hollywood - and had just landed a role opposite Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves in... Read more
