    [Highly rated reviewer]

This tale of 2 hitmen ( 1 stopwatch obsessed- 1 over the hill desperate to make a comeback) ; 2 cops ( 1 obsessed with getting rid of a massage parlour - 1 burning with a desire to get into homicide) ; a suicidal Hollywood director; a gorgeous blonde model; an Olympic skier; her 'ex'; a nurse; a yuppie with kidney stones; his bullied PA and 2 gorgeous dogs is knit together in a tapestry of little stories. We thoroughly enjoyed it !

The acting was great, the script witty and a nice satisfactory ending.

Amusing crime caper/black comedy with interesting plot (in parts) which intersperses various stories, but some characters are stereotyped, unoriginal and/or exaggerated.

Definitely watchable, even for Spader and Theron's steamy sex scene. Ending reiterates typical and predictable 'crime does not pay' message; bad guys don't make it, good guys get their happy ending etc.

For a more serious attempt at complicated storytelling, try 'Short Cuts' starring Julianne Moore and Tim Robbins, among other notable cast.

A brilliant, well underrated film, full of intrigue, outstanding performances by all actors. Spend an entertaining 48 hours in the valley, with hitmen, suicidal directors, cops and massage parlours, a whole panoply of unusual cgarecters and follow the quirky stories as the merge satisfyingly together, with great humour.

    A homage to pulp fiction.

you won't regret it! five star

The story isn't that great but it is good entertainment, with the addition of Charlize Theron and Teri Hatcher in a bitch fight :-)

The Direction could have been a lot smarter, but nevertheless provided you can stomach violence and a really cold-blooded villain then this is an entertaining film with much to commend it - but remember it's a comedy - that's why it's got so many funny characters in it :-)

Not the most likely of stories involving hitmen but I rather like this black comedy, in the style of Fargo and Pulp Fiction. The poor San Fernando valley seems to get a lot of stick for some reason but I take all my holidays there, and this films features lots of nice shots of Studio City and Ventura Blvd. It's actually very safe there, no one runs around with guns except cops.
