LOVEFiLM Review Tyrannosaur

  • 5 stars out of 5

    By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM

Paddy Considine's directorial feature film debut is so powerfully played that by the time it's over you'll be gasping for air.

This is not a film that is easy to watch or easy to forget. It's raw and intense with career defining performances from Peter Mullen and Olivia Coleman. A very well made film

O U T S T A N D I N G! One of the best films I have ever seen! The actors were absolutely stunning and definitely worth for an Oscar nomination. This film made me think a lot and even cry, because it is so brutally honest and deep.

  • Chilling, gripping, difficult to watch

    Rated - 4.5 stars

Difficult to watch, yes, but please do watch it. Excellent performances from the two leads. Even though Peter Mullan's character was very violent I found myself feeling sympathetic towards him, much to my surprise. He played the part showing that there might have been something leading up to his violence and also that he was not all bad. The DVD I was sent was a bit dodgy in the middle, at the crucial moments when Olivia Colman's character and her husband fought but I picked the film up again after that and thought it interesting to see a violent man's reaction to someone else's violent outburst. I was pleased to see that Joseph supported Olivia's character afterwards and that Olivia's character seemed to have found someone who might actually care for her.

Why dont films like this win oscars? One of the best films I've watched in a long time. Not an easy watch though, but stick with it. Olivia Coleman is pure class. Wish I could give it a 10 star rating
