    [Highly rated reviewer]

Saw Tyson today as a part of the BFI London Film Festival and was knocked out.

Iron Mike Tyson is perhaps most famous for being infamous than famous. His life has been shaded with contraversy. He has been idolised and also villified and this film seeks to explore the man behind the stories. Director James Toback presents his friend talking about all aspects of his life from his troubled youth, to the heights of his career and the lows of his life. Tyson is the sole voice of the film which makes it all the more interesting and effective as we see how vulnerable and complex a character he is. The story he tells is both heartbreaking and funny. There are some very clever techniques used within the documentary which add to the intrigue. Most of all the film keeps you watching it's hard not to be touched and to feel empathy towards a man some perhaps still loathe. However, for others he will remain one of the greatest sportsman of all time and this film goes a long way to showing what the world of sport lost when Tyson left the sport.

'What's behind me is history, what's ahead of me is a mystery'

Really interesting person. Only thing that let the film down was the editing. Still worth a watch for the man himself.

An honest (too honest) account of the most devastating boxer in history. Portrays Mike Tyson as a scared, confused, misguided, and ultimately unfulfilled, individuals

Great insight into his world. Great focussed fighter in his early years. unbeatable. . . But, unfortunately blighted by $'s and abused by all obsessed by the same.

Nice yarn with some good footage.

Definitely worth a watch, Tyson was immense as a boxer from 86-90 but everything else in his life seems to be a mess and he likes to have a good chat about it. Don't like the way the director keeps over-lapping Tysons talk, it was very annoying!! He likes to have a good walk on the beach fully suited up too!

Perhaps my review title is misleading...I don't mean it in any way negatively. I don't think you can write a spoiler for this, as even going into it you kind of know what to expect...and it doesn't let you down at all.

This is a film that will reassert your humanity.

Mike Tyson, widely known as a Knockout king boxer, but who became a convicted rapist, falling from grace, and perhaps falling from any sort of full redemption in the eyes of the public is presented here in his own words, as the sole narrator, and once you watch it, you will feel glad for it.
