This is a title that perhaps is aimed more at die-hard U2 fans than casual music lovers.

There are some brilliant, live [well mostly] performances in this movie - but some parts of it are difficult to watch if you're not a fan of Bono's ever inflating ego, which gets an airing during the fly-on-the wall documentary interludes that surround the music.

That said, this movie is well made and helps chart how U2 began to evolve their sound from the 'classic U2' tracks found before Rattle & Hum towards the new direction they took up after this album.

I rate this title quite high, as it works better on DVD than it did in the cinema - simply because I can skip the bits that annoy or bore me. If you view it this way, there is some great material here to enjoy.

Quite good film of U2 on their Joshua Tree tour of America. A bit too up itself at times for it's own good, but it did make make want to go and get their records out for a listen for the first time in a long while. One for the die hard fans only.

  • Not as Tap-esque as they say

Nowhere near as bad as the 'Tap-esque' rockumentary that I was led to believe but perhaps a touch self concious and overstylised video but with some great tight band performances - oh c'mon, the chart alternatives where Glenn Medeiros, Wet Wet Wet and Kylie. With these hips and tunes at their age who would'nt take themselves seriously?

How can a band notorious for nailing down any sonic imperfection in their music release a biography that has such appalling sound quality? Really really shoddy production, I can't hear a thing that is being said and the music is all bass & treble. Interesting piece of ' Pomp & Stomp' rock history though, remember how worthy everything had to be in those days? Hilarious.

  • Rattle & Hum blu-ray gets you closer to U2

The movie is a fascinating mix of band biography, stories of their journey told by the band members, and great performance footage from small recording studios to grand open arenas. A must see for any U2 fan, but interesting to all music fans to see one of the most succesful bands of all time. It's an opportunity to see the band up close and the blu-ray experience really brings you closer to the whole thing.
