John Rambo takes out his enemies with extreme prejudice in FIRST BLOOD, RAMBO - FIRST BLOOD PART 2, RAMBO 3, and RAMBO.
In FIRST BLOOD, a police chief arrests and harasses a vagrant, former Vietnam war hero John Rambo. Rambo escapes his captors and wages a one man war against the corrupt police force in nearby mountains.
In RAMBO - FIRST PLOOD PART 2, John Rambo's mission is to locate American P.O.W's in Vietnam. His orders: do not engage the enemy. But double-crossed and behind enemy lines he must get out any way he can. No man, no law, no war can stop him!.
In RAMBO 3, John Rambo has gone to live a life of seclusion in an old Buddhist monastery, searching for inner peace. When friend and mentor Col. Trautman visits to ask for his help in a secret mission in Afghanistan, Rambo declines, preferring a life of serenity. Trautman goes it alone and is captured by the enemy. Rambo must now set out to bring his old friend back to safety.
RAMBO sees John Rambo living like a hermit and wrangling rattlesnakes in Thailand. He's drawn back into the action by a group of missionaries who want the Vietnam vet to ferry them upriver into Burma. But when the group of idealists gets captured by the Burmese army, it's up to Rambo and a team of multinational mercenaries to save the day.

Okay, Stallone has made some howlers over the years, but despite his crap actiing abilities you have to admit he's been in some classics! (Rocky / Rambo). Whislt the first few Rocky films were good, the one where he 'street fights' withthe yank is probably the worst film Stallone has ever done. BUT, he pulled it back with the last Rocky film, which was surprisingly good. Likewise, although the other 3 Rambo films were good, this one is GREAT! Its no where near as ridiculous as the third Rambo film (Gunship vs Tank??? silly...) and it takes it back the frist couple of ilms with good old ground warfare!!!
Rambo and his merry little friends (who he joins up with) have a ball shooting the hell out of loads of baddies, blowing em up limb from limb, sawing them in half with machine guns and blowing their heads literally off with sniper rifles....it has everything!
Forget the plot, the script, the character development and all that rubbish, this film doesnt need it! It is what it says on the tin - A BLOODY GREAT RAMBO FILM!!!!!!!
Quite literally a rip off. The interview with sly is the same on all 3 DVD's and you might find them cheaper in normal dvd format if you are crazy about the films. I don't mind action films as long as they don't go over the top and keep some sort of rational. Like all hollywood blockbusters they always portray things as though the USA were the good guys and it was all black and white. But unfortunately wars are seldomly fought on script. And certainly one John Rambo isn't going to make a blind bit of difference in any war. About the only one film out of the 3 that has hit the spot because it deals in humility and empathy and also creates a true simpathy towards the character was the very first film 'First Blood'. It deals in all the fears and frustrations of all war veterans around the world not only Vietnam. Though the contrast and colour are improved on all 3 films they lack any depth into the story of Rambo. Who is and who was John Rambo before he bacame a soldier at 17. What was his story background? I thought some of those thoughts would have been answered in the extras on these DVD's but I guess I am going to have to wait for the final Rambo film for that. If the trailers of that film are anything to go by then I would guess Blood and guts is the answer. I find some of Slys good stuff is underrated and his blockbuster action stuff is overrated. Because there is really nothing in the films other than what we have seen on TV or at the cinema then I shall only rate these as one star per film.
I have just sat through the final Rambo film and can quite say it is as blood thirst and drol as is said by other reviewers. The storyline is as simplistic as the nature of the beast. Man takes woman and friends into warzone at their request, leaves them there and returns. Only the kickback is of having to go back and save the woman and her friends with a bunch of pathetic excuses for mercenaries I have ever seen. About the only scene that makes any true sense is the final one where he has returned home to Arizona to his parents farm and is strolling down the long path to the farmhouse.
It is a sort of Docudrama, but it isn't. They have tried to constrew a storyline that fits into the attrocities that are happenning in Burma to give awareness to the issue but they are pushing audiences away in the long term because when we go to the cinema we wish to be thrilled excited and basically entertained. This is how mr.Joe average in america learns about the world outside the Grand old US of A. And I will politely decline what I mean by A even though you may now the logical answer. There are plenty of extras on this dvd, though most are just patting themselves on the back for their part in the film. The only part of this film that works is the musical score. Some good SFX but other than one big blood bath nothing else really to write home about. Overall this film is a poor excuse for entertainment. Too Visceral
