Every gory moment of note from the past four decades of zombie horror ends up present and politically incorrect in this low-budget feature debut from twins Peter and Michael Spierig. Set in rural Queensland, it begins with a meteor shower that soon has the effect of turning the population of a small fishing village into brain-munching zombies. While their main source of inspiration is clearly Bad Taste, the Spierigs don't have Peter Jackson's sense of narrative cohesion. Undead is a badly paced mess that gets increasingly repetitive and incomprehensible as it meanders on, even throwing aliens into the queasy conspiracy mix. The film is competently made and does have its moments, but this gross-out comedy just isn't as funny as it's trying so hard to be.

Neighbours meets Day of the dead.
A surprisingly enjoyable effort from Australia. Zombies, aliens, meteorites, guns and blood. Lots of it.
Anyone looking for genuine terror may want to look elsewhere, Undead definitely sticks to the more comical side of proceedings, and while some of the characters are just plain annoying there is always something just around the corner to put a great big smile back on your face. The special effects are excellent and help to give the movie a very accomplished look.
The final act is where most of the pleasure derives from though, the first hour of the movie moves from one splattery set piece to another without showing any signs of letting up, but the last half hour shows some signs of genuine originality which will make for a blood soaked, fun soaked night of entertainment. It's not as smart as Shaun of the Dead, it's not as dark as George Romero's efforts, but it's still a worthy addition to the zombie bandwagon. -

Not the greatest zombie film. A good beggining however the ending is dreadful, overall a average zombie/alien film, plenty of blood, good special effect but a confusing story line that is all over the place. Worth watching but do not expect too much.
