Unforgiven is a good movie. Clint Eastwood did a tremendous job in acting and directing this film which had a great supporting cast as well.

The story, just like real life, tells the story a man who has been out of the game for a few years and is making one last triumphant return to his old stompin' grounds. This film is unlike many other westerns in the fact that it doesn't glorify violence. Rather, it shows its dark side and the after effects that it has on people and their emotions. When Morgan Freeman cannot bear to shoot a man and when the Schofield Kid claims that he will never shoot another after he had killed his first.

A brilliant performance from Hackman, and the pace and movement of the film were perfect for a western. Worth a watch but probably wouldn’t buy it.

A great actor a great director...he does what he does best tells a great story about characters you can get to know and care about. None of Eastwood's films are break the mold outside the box imaginative.....the spaghetti westerns are some of the most carbon copy films I have ever seen but still great westerns made classic by his perfect characterization of a man with no name. I like to think of this as the final movie in that series. This is what became of that character.....cleaned up married and kids living a peaceful life pulled back into his old life for one last mosey into town guns blasting and whiskey swigging :)) cowboy legend Clint i tip my hat to all your movies.

  • Amazing film, poor quality picture on DVD

An amazing film, but be warned that the picture quality on the DVD is very poor. I received what appeared to be the 1997 edition which looks like a poorly compressed JPG; a weird mottling on any large expanses of colour such as blue skies or patches of shadow, two things that feature heavily in the film. If you can get the Blu-Ray instead of the DVD, you should.

  • One of the Best Movies Ever Made

    Rated - 5.0 stars

As a big western fan, this must be one of the best movies ever made. I first saw this movie on the big screen when it was released. During the movie I was a little disappointed in Clint's character. To me it seemed like he could have made a better western if he was playing the Will Munny in the stories told by the kid and Ned. But little by little his character changed as the movie progressed (to think that critics used to say Clint couldn't act). At the end when he took that swig of whiskey I had a grin from ear to ear as the look in his eye was pure evil. The final shootout was great. Only Clint could carry that off without it looking corny, although the art of gunfighting was explained during the movie. It has always annoyed me that I was too young to see his spaghetti westerns for the first time on the big screen as they would have been amazing. It is an awful pity that there will never be another new Clint Eastwood western.
