I am not a fan of Manchester United at all but this was very moving and like all true football fans i felt for them. David Tennant is very good as are all the actors in this very British portrayl of a footballing disaster. I missed it on TV and am very glad i caught in on DVD.

  • Deep, quite depressing but inspirational.

My only gripe about the film is the way Matt Busby was portrayed. More of a 1950s mafioso rather than one of the greatest football managers of alltime. If I was being extra picky I'd wish the story showed a little more pre-disaster football and more on just how good the Busby Babes were. If you was a non football fan watching this not knowing the history you may of not got the point.

Overall we need more true football movies like this and 'The Damned Utd'. Dave Tennant plays the part superb of someone who to this day doesn't get the credit for what he done for Man Utd. Jack O'Connell playing Charlton also lives up to his 'up & coming' British actor tag.

Good acting and heart wrenching drama. But drama is what it is... you literally do not see a football kicked. So have your tissues handy because if you are an emotional person, there could be tears!!

this is one of my favorite football films, it surprised me at how good it is. this is defiantly up their with the Damned United which is an amazing film, as someone who does not like Manchester United nor has any interest in their history (why would i, i support Portsmouth) this was excellent. David Tennant's acting in this is incredible and makes this film his own, i could watch it over and over just because of him. Please if you are thinking about watching this then go for it, it is fantastic.

  • United in grief

That most of a football team was wiped out in plane crash was a bad enough tragedy, the fact that it was a young team bursting with talent which was highly regarded throughout the land (well, except for people with a diehard opposition to Man U) made the Munich air crash of 1958 all the more terrible.

As you'd expect from the BBC, the acting, art direction (period costumes and sets) in United are superb. It's just that the storytelling is dull, the dialogue is overloaded with exposition and because we know what is going to happen, there is no suspense. Overall, a disappointment.
