Having been less than enthralled with the results of reconstructing an army from the dead in part two, those fiendish UnSol boffins set out to create test-tube troopers in this follow-up TV movie. Although it starts tiresomely with a lengthy resumé of previous events, the new adventure eventually kicks in, with Matt Battaglia and reporter sidekick Chandra West not only being challenged with halting the dangerous research, but also with foiling a master criminal's bid to steal a consignment of United Nations gold. It's pretty standard stuff, but what gives it kitsch kudos is Burt Reynolds's awful Irish-accented performance as a CIA hot shot.
Science-fiction hokum intended to boost the appeal of its two action stars, done with enough energy and containing more than enough mayhem to appeal to fans of action movies.

Good adventure that's showing it's age now..
Well it's hard to believe this film is thirteen years old because it hasn't dated at all, and is still great fun to watch. It's actually quite refreshing to see a film where the effects and stunts aren't all computer-generated like they seem to be nowadays.
The plot is pretty original, the suspense is good and the acting and fight sequences are excellent. There's a small amount of romance but the thrust of the film as a futuristic action adventure can't really be beaten.
FIVE STAR ALL THE WAY, you cant fault it, not really believable coz the American government would never do something like that, Would they !!!
First time I watched Universal Soldier, I thought WOW Really Good, and I still think its a good rentable movie. An elite team of soldiers have been used against terrorists where they use astounding physical capabilities to overcome them. A suspicious reporter, follows them and discovers a part of their secret (they were once men, but fetched back to life by the use of machinery). One of the Soldiers kills the Cameraman the reporter tries to escape. Luc, one of the soldiers begins to have flashbacks and turns sides and helps her as the remainder of the team follows to protect their secrets. Excellent story with edge of your seat thrills.
Universal soldiers is a really good film.
Its a film about a special forces team made up from reanimated soldiers from the vietnam war.
The story is about the control of these soldiers and the reawakening memories of the past that they have
Good acting and fight scenes from van damme and lungren with a good story and decent special effects
Well worth a watch

Excellent action-packed movie that keeps you on edge from start to finish. Van Damme at his best! Good acting, good story, great action. I really liked that movie and will definately add it to my DVDs collection.
this movie was not bad at all van damme at is best
No in-depth plot, cardboard-cut-out characters, very predictable; but what the hell - it was all action entertainment from start to finish.
Typical Van Damme film. Wooden acting, cheesy script and acrobatic fighting. If you like that sort of thing (as I do), then go watch this film. This film isnt really the greatest of movies, but is never-the-less entertaining. WORTH A WATCH!
I agree with others who have said its never dated and I have to say I have watched this film about three times and dont ever get bored of it. Its action packed without going over the top and the storyline is original. 5 stars from me.
Brilliant storyline. Watched it when I was 10 and liked it. I still like it now. A sci-fi /martial arts movie rolled into one.
A must-see if you like either genre. Ignore the film critics review, all they do is criticise!
