They didn't discover jack... One of the dullest films I've watched in a long time. Even on constant 4x ff speed... Avoid.

It's just an educated guess, but when people look back at today's era in movies from the perspective of, say, 2040, I reckon the Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke will be seen as one of the four or five most important figures. Partly this is a matter of being in the right place at the right time - Jia was born in 1970, in the province of Shanxi, which was also the setting for his first few films: Xiao Wu (aka Pickpocket, 1997), his masterpiece Platform (2000), and Unknown Pleasures (2002).
