Four Stars wasn't UnthinkableBy MrKush (27 reviews) from London , 06 Jun 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]Unthinkable is a thriller about the interrogation of an American muslim terrorist who releases a video to the media where he explains he has three nuclear bombs hidden in three separate locations and they will explode in a few days at a certain time. Now i know what your thinking, doesn't sound very original right? However its the angle of focusing on the interrogation that makes this film a refreshing watch.
I watched Unthinkable last night after seeing the trailer last week. What initially attracted me from the trailer was to see the performance of Michael Sheen as the terrorist and although it wasn't his best performance, as a fan i wasn't disappointed. I also liked the performance of Carrie-Anne Moss, who i wasn't a fan of after The Matrix, but she added, i thought, good human emotions to the various situations in the film.
I thought the pace of the film was good. It keeps you interested and never really gets to boring. The torture scenes throughout the movie are graphic, yet the film cleverly keeps you on the fence as to whether or not you feel the torture is needed and wether or not you should be sympathetic.
Although not enough to ruin the movie i did have slight issues with the character played by Samuel L. Jackson. He plays 'H' the guy the government call in to do the interrogation. It may just be me, but the character didnt really have the menacing impact on me that i was expecting. I cant decide if this was just an under-thought character however, or if Jackson just didnt suit the part.
All in all Unthinkable is one of the better thrillers that throws up some really interesting current issues and tells a good story at the same time. The casting, on a whole, is good and it has enough twists and turns, even if slightly predictable, to keep you interested.
This is certainly one to watch.

Better than cheeseBy KittensPirahnas (1 review) , 15 Dec 2013Bloody ruddy good. I am amazed at how gripping this was. S L Jackson was OK. Enjoy. Watch again. :)
Excellent movieBy Pudding73 (1 review) , 13 Dec 2013Another excellent movie with Samuel Lee Jackson who played the 'deranged professional torturer. Great supporting cast too. The storyline is good with some unexpected twist and turn. Torture is a controversial subject and the screenwriter have done an amazing job in putting both points across. This movie does make you reflect on the use of torture. The question you want to ask yourself at the end of the movie is: Should they have killed /torture the children in front of their dad?
Intelligent question posed by this filmBy dustyd (23 reviews) , 13 Dec 2013A great, intelligent study of the use of torture on a terror suspect. Is torture ever justified? Is the theme that this film runs with, exploring all the ethical issues and morals along the way. How far can you go? How far should you go? The film and the characters are asked and ask this question in an very clever way, which left me wondering what would I do in a similar situation. Great acting by all involved.
Very goodBy a customer , 04 Dec 2013Suprisingly good and a bit different. Definately worth watching. A good heart adrenaline pumping movie. Good cast. All round recommended!
A great movie. Edge of the seat stuff.By ittrainer (20 reviews) , 01 Dec 2013I watched this some good while ago. Despite that, it still features in my mind as a very gripping film, full of intrigue and suspense. The acting is top quality, and the film has a brilliantly devious ending! Homeland with knobs on!
