The girls in my family reckon that this is the best 'weepy' of the lot. But that shouldn't prevent the boys enjoying one of Michelle Pfieffer's cleverest performances as a 'wannabe' TV presenter. Clever casting has Robert Redford as her mentor and the pair of them sizzle. No gratuitous sex so most of the family can watch. A mostly happy, sometimes dramatic, love story with a heart-breaking ending. Very, very enjoyable.

  • You feel like you're there in the studio

Wonderful love story, lots of passion, lots of chemistry between Pfeiffer (looking stunning throughout) and Redford, the casanova of the newsroom. At the same time we're offered a real insight into how TV news in the late seventies/early eighties actually worked, and the kind of people who lived that life. You feel like you're there in the studio. I loved it.

Disappointing because I am now fed up seeing Robert Redford in the same role film after film -as the mentor who gets the girl in the end-as other reviewers have said it is predictable.

  • Irritating and bad acting

With two good actors, thought we would like this but found it irritating and a bit stupid. Not my kind of film after all. Predictable, and so only watched about 1/2 hour of it. Perhaps it got better, but we didn't wait to see!

This film was not as good as I'd hoped, nevertheless it was well acted and there was great chemistry between the leads. Worth renting.

Good film. The chemistry between the main characters is convincing. Shows what you can acheive with the right help & determination. Sad ending though!
