Fantastic Four hits the top

UK audiences showed their loyalty this week as superhero sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer hit the top of the box office chart. Debuting at number one with around £4.14 million in receipts, the film, starring Jessica Alba and Ioan Gruffudd as two of the four genetically-altered scientists, pipped Ocean's Thirteen to the post and pushed it into second place. Last week he was beaten by an animated rat, this week it is a Scottish ogre - it seems that no matter what, Bruce Willis' Die Hard 4.0 cannot quite make it to the top of the box office. Following its number two placing in the US chart - behind Ratatouille - Die Hard 4.0 also debuted with a silver medal in the UK top ten, generating a weekend gross of over £5 million.
