Help me out on this one….

The screenwriter on the DVD extras maintains that this is an original piece that he came up with the concept for whilst on holiday in New Mexico. It became really apparent very quickly whilst watching this that I had seen something virtually identical to it a long time back. This feeling got confirmed as I started recognising scenes and knew exactly what was going to happen – even some of the dialogue. Is it just a cheesy shlock horror rehash?

Good old Fashion horror!!

It's good to see that films like this are coming back in!!!

With all the recent gross out blood & guts horrors such as the saws & hostels, which don't apeal to everybody, it's nice to see a cheesy good boo flick.

It's got all the jumps & thrills of a horror without excluding those of us who are a tad squirmish!!

Pretty Vacant

Got to be honest i enjoyed it BUT.....

It just wasnt amazing, kinda like Hitchcock at his worst(not an overly bad thing). Probably would've fit in better as one of those Masters of Horror episodes.

It wanted to explore the realm of snuff like Hostel and My Little Eye but simply didnt want to get its hands dirty!

Didnt help that the people i saw it with huffed and puffed throughout really not enjoying it.

Nothing new, nothing scary, nothing memorable, but solid enough and better than not watching anything!

Not bad

A slow start but gets alot better, scary parts and jumpy parts in the film make it exciting and a good ending, a good watch on a dark night in.

Vacancy of a plot

Despite misgivings, I naively had high hopes for this one. Mixing the idea of using motel guests to make snuff movies, sort of a cross between 8mm and Isolation. Alas, dear god, alas. The usually lovely Kate Beckinsale ditched her stone killer Underworld persona to play a thoroughly unlikeable and whiny, bereaved (I think she was bereaved, it isn't made clear) woman who, after, about an hour, made me want to shut her head in the fridge door repeatedly until she stopped moving.

Luke Wilson is just like Owen Wilson, but without the jokes ,and I wanted the two of them to end up as victims as soon as possible to keep me awake.

Plodding action with as much tension as an old elastic band, ham fisted direction that probably involved the director shouting 'run there, scream a bit, run back, scream a bit, look worried, rinse and repeat.'

I won't mention the ending as I want anyone brave enough to watch this tosh to have the same feeling of, 'oh! is that the end then?' that I did.

the worst film i have seen this year!!!

What a crap ending

Vacancy could of been and perhaps should of been a really good chiller but instead builds up from a slightly predictable opening (car breaks down, can't get it fixed, let's go stay in abandoned motel) and then manages to be very creepy and tense, that is until the last ten minutes where the film is absolute crud. should of been four stars but with such an ending i give it three stars.

No good ending

I was so gutted with this film. It starts out looking good if not a bit predicatable but soon becomes quite creepy. The thought of snuff movies is horrifying to me so I was creeped out but then they had to go and ruin it all with one of the worst endings I have ever seen! WTF was that all about? It looks as if the accountant run up to the director on set and went 'Boss we have a problem, we only have 20p left in the budget' The director goes 'What? Really? Oh no Ive got another 30mins of film to squeeze out yet, what are we going to do' So the accountant leans down and whispers in the directors ear and the director goes' Right everyone heres the new plot ending, we have to cram it into 2mins worth so you all best be quick and action! oh thats perfect! CUT! thats a wrap, knock it out to cinema!' Such a lazy ending that really ruined the entire film for me and everyone in the room watching. If you want a scare fest that delivers watch the descent.
