    France is scary!

Set in WWII, this animated movie portrays the life of a little pigeon with a big heart named Valiant. Wanting more out of his life he decides to leave the nest and join the Homing Pigeon Service. But life was never going to be easy for the little pigeon but he proves that spirit and heart is all one needs to be a hero!

Valiant doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t unlike so many other animations, and comes jam packed with a great sense of British humour. McGregor, Gervais and Cleese are the perfect voices for their respective parts to make this an all round good British animation that holds it own. It does have a certain charm that most of its competition fails to comprehend. It may not be the fanciest, most exciting animation, but its solid, and most of all British.

    Bird Brained Cartoon

I was looking forward to this and thought with the sterling cast it could not fail. Wrong, this was dyer, the jokes might have been funny if the comedic timing wasn’t so far out. It was as if all the voices had been recorded separately and no one knew what the other person was going to say. Ewan McGregor was an awful choice for this film. You wanted to put down poison pellets for that pigeon.

The only saving grace was Ricky Gervais, I’m not his biggest fan but I thought he was all right in this. It should have been so good but failed spectacularly. Oh I know it’s a kids film but my daughter thought it was “pants” so only a 2 for this bird brained cartoon.

    Good fun

Even though its a kids movie, I liked it okay. It was easy to watch and there are voices by a lot of great people on there. Not split your sides funny but what you'd expect from this kind of movie. Most kids would probably enjoy it, even big kids like me.

    Funny

A good childrens movie- well made and very random! Very funny in some places with a good story.... and even a bit of bird romance... what?

    a flight of unfancy

One or two good jokes can't stop this film from being a disappointment. The script was static as was the animation, but, the real problem with this disc was the start - who was the dimwit that made it impossible to skip the trailers at the start, this should be a capital offence.

    Classic Hero Tale

When I said to my wife this was based on a true story she looked ay me as though I had a bird brain.

Although this is no classic it is however a enjoyable watch. Overall there are good performances from Gervais, Lawrie, and McGreggor.

If you looking for a quite evening in with nothing on the telly then this is maybe you answer.

    For little kids only

Disappointing, americanised, cheesy, boring.... I was expecting something a little more original and complex, but to be honest - it couldn't keep me interested for more than 30 mins, so maybe it did get better?....

    Superb little movie!

This is a must for any parent to watch with their children! You will enjoy it just as much. It's quite educational too if you think about it, and is an easy way to get them to digest some knowledge about World War 2.

Ricky Gervais plays his character or the character fits him perfectly. Any fan of The Office will just love this as well.

Not a particularly long movie, so again great for kids and good for you to quickly watch it and send it back.

    A

I am a big fan of this type of CGI film; and after the fabulous Shrek & Toy Story series, and even the slightly below par ROBOTS these films can be fantastic entertainment.

Sadly Valiant does not deliver. Great Visuals, but sadly there is more entertaining script found on IKEA's latest DIY instructions.

Great if your a 6 year old with just over an hour to kill. But if your no longer in short trousers stay away!

Doesn't live up to the names that are in it

I got a bit bored watching this to be honest. It wasn't bad exactly it just didn't seem to work the way the better animated films do (and I'm a big fan of the good ones). Not many laughs in there and no really great characters. A shame considering the vocal talent employed.
