Disturbing, bloody, funny and Intriguing collection of stories
By christopher williams from Paington, S. Devon , 26 Apr 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Classic collection of horror stories here from the studios that brought you the excellent From Beyond the Grave, Asylum and The Beast Must Die. Here you have five stories that range from the gothic horror mixed perfectly with the obligatory comedy segment. I will not ruin any of the stories for you but my favs are the first (disturbing it is too) starring the excellent Daniel Massey and the second extremely amusing segment starring British legend Terry Thomas. While the final instalment shows the former Dr Who Tom Baker's acting talents outside of the Tardis perfectly playing a rather frustrated painter. A great film made by on the most underrated British directors, Roy Ward Baker. I can only wish Britain made them like this today... For Hammer horror and Amicus lovers everywhere. Please note the negative reviews obviously come from horror fans of today's poor effect laden tosh... this is how horror should be, atmospheric, damp, creepy and no reliance on CGI. A good example of a British Horror classic even without Cushing / Lee present.- Was this review helpful to you?

(17)Not what I expected
By KhaleesiVic (1 review) , 17 May 2013At first I wondered what on earth I'd added to my list! Fast became one of the most HILARIOUS films I've ever seen, watch this with your mates and marvel at the effects. I gave it a good rating because I got a lot of joy at it's expense, and laughed more than I have with comedies.- Was this review helpful to you?

Vault of Horror
By GofWarks (60 reviews) from Radford Semele , 18 Mar 2012Typical of horror films of that era when you get different stories within one film. Darkly humerous in places. Especially the vampire story.- Was this review helpful to you?

Eerie, a bit seedy
By InspectorSands (209 reviews) from London , 04 Oct 2010Funnily enough, the creaky early 1970s vibe is the most unnerving aspect of this compilation of horror stories, which follows the old Dead Of Night formula where each character relates a scary tale that has affected him personally.
Two of the tales are more Tales of the Unexpected really and not that horrifying, but it's all reasonably engaging. I'm not sure the punchline that's meant to tie up the loose ends really makes sense, however.- Was this review helpful to you?
