Almost Good
By Schnarris (2 reviews) from Cockermouth , 21 Aug 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
'Vengeance' had all the potential to be a very good, non Hollywood film. A good set up from the start, a-typical characters, solid plot and deepening story.
Unfortunately, because it doesn't reach it's potential, the second half drifts along. If it were stretched an extra 20 minutes so all motives and actions were explained, it would be a lot more successful.
Worth a watch, but don't cancel plans to see it- Was this review helpful to you?

By juradino (811 reviews) from London , 08 Oct 2011Young family gets killed by hit men. Father of the woman who is French chef and restaurant owner and former mobster himself swears vengeance. When he witnesses hit on unfaithful woman (of chief mobster) in his hotel he hires the men to do the job for him only to find out that they work for the same boss as those who killed his daughter and her family. It gets philosophical if not whimsical towards the end. Rocking soundtrack as you might expect with Johnny Hallyday in it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Watchable revenge
By Underworld (135 reviews) from London , 25 Sep 2011Good title, good start, good Chinese hit mob of 3 brothers with a fun twist. Other than that, it was so bad it was strangely compelling to watch. Could have been so so much better.- Was this review helpful to you?

Hell in the form of a movie

Rubbish doesn't get any worse than this
By a customer , 27 May 2011What a terrible film. Although free with our package still feel cheated. Poor Johnny Holiday eyes barely open due allegedly to some bad plastic surgery. I have no doubt Vic and Bob made the tiny eyes sketch after watching this movie.
I would say this film is in my worst 10 films of all time.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS PIECE OF S**T.- Was this review helpful to you?

Bad. Really bad.
By Filmlover (18 reviews) from London , 07 Feb 2011Poor script. Poor acting. Poor direction.
And the storyline gets a bit flaky in places too. Bizarrely there are some positive reviews for this film, which was trying to be cool and stylised, but ended up just being stilted and stupid. I like stylised films, I love Hong Kong movies. But this tries to be cool and fails; it misses the mark on all counts. Actually, the photography is pretty good, but that's all. Save 2 hours of your life, rent something else!
p.s. They clearly couldn't find any proper fake blood, but hey, red paint will do. And did I mention Jonny gets shot in the heart, and 5 minutes later he's jumping off balconies like nothing has happened? Getting shot square in the knee does cause him a slight limp however, but our Jonny is made of sterner stuff, obviously. Probably all the botox he's had... Stick to singing Jonny - you're acting ain't all that!- Was this review helpful to you?
