I ordered this because Audrey Tattou stars, but the other characters in this story were equally fascinating in this bitter sweet comedy of life behind the doors of a beauty shop. I loved it.
A sad love story about a beautician who's unlucky in love. It tells of the goings-on at the beauty parlour with the Madame in charge and the lives of the other 2 girls working there. At the heart of it is Angele who has resorted to one-night-stands to fill her life until Antoine arrives unexpectedly to try and sweep her off her feet. She initially resists but knows she ought to grab the opportunity with both hands.
A typically french film where not a lot happens (and Paris is always dark and rainy) but you see into the lives of the main characters with such simplicity and beauty. Well worth a look. Also notable for a very youn Audrey Tatou (later to star in a not dissimilar, though more upbeat french hit 'Amelie').
