  • A drear remake with a somewhat larger budget, but a decrease in skill and interest; there seems no reason to reproduce an old film, unless it is to exhibit the makers' lack of imagination and originality.

    • Halliwell's Film Guide
  • A modest but intelligent and extremely effective adaptation of John Wyndham's novel The Midwich Cuckoos, about a small... read more on Time Out

Had to see it..as had seen the original !!

Was okay, just had to see it as I had seen the black and white film as a child. Acting was...okay. Film...was ...okay. Teenage sons thought it was awful !

    another pointless remake

Why do the Americans have to remake every good movie they come accross, and then try to pass it of as their own creation (Ring, Grudge etc). This movie adds nothing to the original, except for a few big names in hollywood, but the whole performance was devoid of emotion, and the acting was wooden at best. Obviously Reeves heart was not into this one...

Christopher Reeves ruined this movie, and unfortunately he did the same with 'The Rear Window' (why oh why!)

I would advise sticking with the original classics.
