Was okay, just had to see it as I had seen the black and white film as a child. Acting was...okay. Film...was ...okay. Teenage sons thought it was awful !

  • DAMN! A REALLY SINISTER CARPENTER MOVIE

    Rated - 3.5 stars
    By executor01 (56 reviews) from Stanley , 12 Aug 2010
This is surprisingly and rather underrated John Carpenter remake of a classic 1950's british sci-fi movie. (Actaully, including elements of both the Village and Children of the Damned).

Christopher Reeve, shorn of his Superman alter-ego, is an excellent hero and then rest of the cast, including the children-which can be the downfall of this type of movie- help to make the entire scenario of mutated, mind controlling children holding a village (In this case, a typical US one) to ransom by getting everyone to do their bidding.

It is such a surprise then, that this is never mentioned in the same breath as Carpenter's other classics, Halloween, The Fog and The Thing.

Not too long. Yet, somehow, not long enough. A conundrum in itself. But a very good, atmospheric and well played movie.
