Golden Ring
This is an excellent version
Levine and his singers and team at the New York Met are on top form
traditional Nordic look
atmospheric stage lighting
exxcellent video directing from Brian Large
wonderful digital sound
a DVD version to watch again and again
as there is nothing too quirky that wears in time
The Ring is a work to live with all your life
and so this DVD version is one to have
Marvellous throughout!!! -

Excellent for those who know it already
Not a set for those who don't know the stories as all the information is held in the DVD box cases (not on the DVD) which you don't receive - you won't know who the characters are and will thus miss out a lot. Excellent otherwise though. Although a shame they won't send you the whole operas which are on two discs on the budget account even though they do with other versions (the Copenhagen Opera one for example).
If you want to know who the singers are in advance - look it up on Amazon!
