candy-coated issues

This is a heart-warming, optimistic film; perhaps naively optimistic. It hopes that the bigoted and intolerant will tire of conflict and cruelty once the tragic consequences of their attitudes and actions come home to roost. This happens for hit-man Eyal when the enormity of his wifes suicide eventually hits him. But there is righteous anger too, as liberal, loving, gay Alex shows for Germanys Nazi past and today's neo-fascists. This film is pleasant and comforting, as well as thought-provoking, though sometimes is a tad credulous.- Was this review helpful to you?

A Must Watch Film
By TXM (2 reviews) , 16 Jun 2011My perfect film...
The cinemaphotography was excellent: Istanbul, Berlin, Tel Aviv and various other famous Israeli sites among the locations.
The acting was very good. I really empathised with the characters.
Despite the trailer, this is no Hollywood blockbuster; it has a plot for a start that keeps you guessing right until the end.
I think music fans will enjoy the variety of soundtracks.- Was this review helpful to you?

Just a great film
By a customer from London, UK , 20 Apr 2010A very interesting film. More slice of life and understanding the human experience than a 'Gay' film. The 'Gay' bit is just part of the story and not central to it... refreshing! Somewhat challenging story line but keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering where it is going. I really enjoyed it. An interesting follow up to Yossi & Jagger. I think director Eytan Fox has a promising career.- Was this review helpful to you?

Great story about the past and reconciliation
By deanhoxton (22 reviews) from London, UK , 06 Apr 2010Very well made. Acting is superb and the story makes you think.
Who is wrong, who is right, and what is the price of justice?
Can we ever move forward if we keep looking at the past?- Was this review helpful to you?

Something missing
By Randomfilmbuff (327 reviews) from London , 02 Nov 2009I did enjoy this film but there was something not quite right. Although it had a gay character it did not feel like an LGBT film, just like the languages - it wanted to be foreign but was not quite there. Although i know why they had English as the dominant language it just did not help with the acting and made it a little woddern. Definantky worth a try but not something I would visit again- Was this review helpful to you?
