A Total Mish-Mash
By a customer from Leeds , 05 Mar 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
I couldn't seem to work out what this film was - romance, thriller ? Because the film couldn't work it out.
And as for Shia, there's more charisma in Chrlie Sheen's cameo than the entire performance of Gecko's sidekick.
Too slow and too long, a major disppointment.- Was this review helpful to you?

(204)Average and not as good as the original
By Bobsview (549 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 31 Mar 2013Sequel with a few new angles but not many. 133 mins too long but long enough for Gordon gecko to make his money again . set against the backdrop of the 2008 global collapse. Gecko eventually gets revenge against the person who took him down and got him sent to jail for 8 years. Sub plot of Gekkos estranged daughter and her relationship with her also big shot financial wheeler dealer . Formulaic and predictable.- Was this review helpful to you?

Disappointing sequel
By Paulie_B (4 reviews) , 22 Nov 2012If I'm honest, I didn't get to the end of this film...not well acted and strangely edited, it just never really had my attention!- Was this review helpful to you?

Money never sleeps - but you might
By RJNeb2 (922 reviews) from London , 20 Sep 2012Relevance seems to be the key word for Stones 20-years-later sequel to his 1987 film. With the sub-prime implosion and the financial crisis of the 00s, yes, the film is a timely reminder that lessons werent learned in the last recession. If anything, they were ignored. And yet, curiously, the film itself feels largely irrelevant in itself, a curious and not terribly necessary sequel. Possibly the fact that this one is also anchored by a charisma-free leading man in LaBoeuf or that the energising presence of Douglas as Gordon Gekko, fresh out of jail and keen to make amends, is largely squandered. Or that Stones brushstrokes are so broad as to be glaringly obvious. It has its moments but, for all the bravura techniques on display, they arent enough.- Was this review helpful to you?
