Competent thriller

Satisfactory police procedural, based on Henning Mankell's novel 'One Step Behind'.
Wallander is a likeable character in his taciturn, stoic way, but this film, whilst well made, doesn't really stand out for me among other police series, and I'd seen most elements of the story elsewhere at various points.

By a customer , 16 Dec 2012If you want to watch this and are hoping that it comes close to capturing the tension, subtle characterisation and dense plotting of Mankell's novel, change your mind. This abomination of an adaptation doesn't even try; the plot is reduced to a simplistic manhunt, the characters barely exist, and all that is so good about the novel is trashed. Just refreshing
By a customer , 22 Jan 2012Well, it's unusual, and like Hana-Bi, its really about an odd-ball love story, sometimes Almodovaresque, and sometimes just plain Scandinavian. Nice touch on the tombstone at the end. The film also celebrates friendship, and for those whom have a more plain Jane view of the world, its a good cop story.
