Another well-meaning true-story TV movie, starring one of the genre's stalwarts, Patty Duke (who has even appeared in a film version of her own life, Call Me Anna). The cast — which includes Richard Crenna and French actress Ele Keats as Sarah — gives its all, but this never rises above a cliché-ridden attempt to milk our emotions, despite taut direction from Fred Gerber (best known for episodes of TV series such as ER, The X Files and Midnight Caller). The main culprit is the predictable script from William Wood, Mimi Rothman Schapiro and Bill Wells — Schapiro and Wells co-wrote the better Kate Jackson vehicle, Murder on the Iditarod Trail.
It's said that Bollywood films are becoming more sophisticated: evidently not, judging from this example.
Some high production values and lavish sets don't make up for appallingly poor continuity, absurdly clichéd dialogue and grotesque attempts at comedy.
While this sort of film may be passble entertainment on a long flight, it's pretty unbearable to watch at home.
Its a very common story line..with happy starting, sad middle and convincing ending...This movie would look good to people who enjoy emotional stuff and family values
