Peace not war
By BigDev (75 reviews) from Oldham , 08 Oct 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
Jet Li is a action hero, having made may martial arts film he has proven himself one of the best. Jason Statham is pretty much the new boy in the action stakes (having made such great films as Crank, Transporter 1 & 2, and Snatch). Considering these 2 athletes I expected a really cool film with some excellent fight scenes. I was disappointed. When the action started it was excellent, but unfortunately a little on the sparse side. The film spent too much time trying to be cool at the expense of action. Don't get me wrong, it was a good film, just not up to the usual standard that both these actors usually deliver.- Was this review helpful to you?

(242)Absolutely fantastic.
By Whoflungdung74 (30 reviews) , 15 Sep 2012Top action film, Jason (usual grumpy all guns blazin) & Jet (smooth calm and deadly) play their parts brilliantly. Full of twists and turns and a great story of how deadly the Asian gang wars can get, but also still show respect for each other. Excellent film and a definite watch.- Was this review helpful to you?

Excellent movie - War is always messy!
By a customer , 10 Sep 2012Brilliant movie.
It's one that you have to really pay attention to get the storyline or you'll miss vital information. I made this mistake and then had to replay the movie 49 minutes into it.
It's fast paced, action packed and Jet Li is the one that really makes this movie. He is the true star here. He is one of the martial artist greats here, second only to Bruce Lee in my opinion.
The movie has a very unexpected twist at the end which catches you by surprise.
I loved this movie, infact I ordered it from Amazon before I'd even finished watching it.
Completely recommend.- Was this review helpful to you?

Non-stop action
By a customer , 06 Aug 2012Loads of fast action with cars and fight scenes. The soundtrack is quite noisy with loud music so quite an onslaught on the senses!
However Jason and Jet deliver with the action scenes as you would expect- Was this review helpful to you?

The most unlikely FBI agent bang in the middle of a boring Triad / Yakuza war
By mj55 (100 reviews) , 18 Dec 2011Honestly - Statham as an FBI agent called Jack Crawford? Poor old Clarice Starling would be crying her eyes out. Not that there is any connection with bad ol' Hannibal - that would make this just too interesting. Jet Li must have had no more than 3 pages of dialogue and most of it is at the very end. There is a degree of fun in watching how many scenes he is in where he says nothing and just looks moody. Lots of cliches, loud inappropriate music, a few bad car chases and a surprising lack of martial arts given the opponents are Triad and Yakuza. A somewhat convoluted storyline that I just couldn't be bothered trying to follow. Passes the time well enough but pretty much forgettable 10 minutes after it ends.- Was this review helpful to you?
